About the Web Call Service

Where can I make long distance calls to during the free trial?

You may make phone calls to anyone in Canada or the United States during the free trial.
* Some restrictions to certain regions in Canada and the United States may apply. Please check availability after filling out the origin and destination fields in Free Trial mode.

How many minutes does DingaLing allow me to use for the free trial?

DingaLing gives users 10 free minutes of calling during the free trial.

Do I have to register an account in order to use the Free Trial?

No, you do not have to register an account in order to use the free trial. The trial is provided to users as a convenience to test the service risk free. If you are satisfied with the free trial period and would like to continue using the service once the time has expired, you will need to register an account with DingaLing

I have not used all my minutes in the free trial but I want to register. Will I lose my remaining free minutes?

You may register an account with DingaLing? at any time. If you have only used a portion of your minutes in free trial mode at the time of your registration, DingaLing will automatically transfer these remaining free minutes to your user account.

How does the Free Trial work?

In three easy steps you will be on your way to making a call through Free Trial mode!

  • Step One: Enter your country of origin followed by your area code and phone number.
  • Step Two: Enter your contact's country of origin followed by their area code and phone number.
  • Step Three: Click the "Call" button.

Shortly after initiating the phone call, your telephone will ring. Upon answering, you will hear a short message from DingaLing notifying you that the call is being transferred. Your contact's phone will then ring. Simply wait for a reply and talk!

Can I make a call using my mobile phone or other PDA device during the Free Trial?

Yes, DingaLing allows you to make calls using your mobile phone or phone enabled PDA device during the free trial.

Pending Balance / Preauths

What is my pending balance?

Your pending balance is appears after you've ordered new credit for your account. It basically means we've recieved your order and we're awaiting someone to process your card and credit your account.

Has my card be debited when the amount is still in pending/preauth?

No. Your card is only debited after we've processed your order and the credits are physically on your balance ready to use.

Text Initiated Calling

What is text initiated calling?

Text initiated calling is when you send an SMS (Text Message) on your cellphone to our server containing the number you wish to call. The server recognises your number, links with your account and calls the number you requested. It works the same way as the standard web call; you are called first and then you're connected with the number you're calling.

What do I need to do?

Firstly, ensure you cellphone number is registered on your account. To do this, ensure the number is listed in My Numbers, and simply sent a text message containing the full number you wish to call (ie 1 306 653 2725) to +1 306-251-1788.

What are text codes, and how do they they?

To save time and to allow easier text initation, you can set a letter or short tag to any of the numbers in your address book. All you need to do them is send a message to the DingaLing text number (+1 306-251-1788) with this code to start a call with this number. (Ie H for wome, W for work, dave for David...)

Credits

What is a credit?

A "credit" is a predetermined amount of money placed into your account which is used to pay for long distance phone calls placed through DingaLing.

What currencies do you accept for credit payments?

You may purchase credits in Canadian Dollars (CAD) or American Dollars (USD).

What credit denominations are available for purchase?

Credits are available for purchase in denominations of $25, $50, and $75.

What methods of payment do you accept?

You may purchase credits through a credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express or Discover Card), personal cheque, or money order.

I am paying by personal cheque or money order. Who do I make the payment out to?

When purchasing credits by personal cheque or money order, make it payable to DingaLing Communications Inc.

Where do I purchase credits?

To purchase credits, visit the "My Account" main page and click on "Add to Balance".

Can I receive a refund for unused credits?

No. Purchased credits are non-refundable.

What are promotional credits?

Promotional Credits are free minutes awarded to you by DingaLing. Through the Free Trial, users are automatically given 5 free minutes. On occasion, DingaLing will hold special contests, giving away a predetermined amount of Promotional Credits to be awarded to your account.

General Questions

What is a source number

A source number is the number you use to make calls from.

How many source numbers does DingaLing allow me to register under one account?

DingaLing allows you to register up to 4 source numbers under your account. These include home, mobile, and office phone numbers in addition to an "other" number of your choice (i.e. home line 2, cell phone 2, cabin number).

Is there a correct way to enter a phone number?

You may enter phone numbers separated by dashes, spaces, and periods. Additionally, DingaLing recognizes uninterrupted strings of numbers (i.e. 3065551234).

Why can't I make a phone call?

You may be unable to make a phone call due to the following:

  • You do not have any credits available in your account;
  • You are using the Free Trial but are making a call to or from a number outside North America, or to/from an unsupported independent carrier.

Can I make emergency phone calls with DingaLing?

DingaLing does not handle emergency phone calls to places such as police departments, fire departments, ambulance services, etc. Please use your local telephone service provider to make these types of phone calls.

What is VoIP?

DingaLing uses VoIP to connect your long distance phone calls. VoIP, or Voice over IP (Internet Protocol), enables people to use the Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls rather than using traditional circuit transmission, which is employed by your local telephone carrier.

Do I have to install anything to use the DingaLing service?

There is no software to install or hardware to integrate! Simply use your existing Internet browser to enter the call information and talk on your landline or mobile phone. DingaLing acts as a medium, connecting your calls through its VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) system around the world.

I forgot my password. How can I retrieve it?

You may reset the password by visiting here.

Can I change my password?

You may change your password by visiting the "My Account" main page. Once there, click on "My Account Settings" and find "Change My Password". Enter your current password followed by the new password. DingaLing will require you to enter the new password again as a verification measure. Then click the "Save" link.
